Frank Bridge, Enter Spring

Frank Bridge (26 February 1879 – 10 January 1941) was an English composer, violist and conductor.

Enter Spring is a composition by Frank Bridge. Premiered in 1924 had at the Norfolk and Norwich Triennial Festival Benjamin Britten was in the audience. The festival leadership was so pleased that Bridge was commissioned to write music for the festival of 1927. The first performance on 27 October 1927 Bridge conducted himself; he led the Queen's Hall Orchestra in Norwich. Bridge was inspired by his stay in the Sussex Downs (southern dunes). Not typically pastoral Bridge music, and a critic of The Times wrote the work was "too wild" for a pastoral.
