Sir Granville Bantock (7 August 1868, London – 16 October 1946) was a British composer of classical music. His Celtic (KEL'tik) Symphony is based on themes from Hebridean folksongs collected by Marjory Kennedy Fraser. The work was composed in 1940. The mass of six harps stands up to the mass of strings at the final climax. Celtic influenced music with lush, expertly handled melodies and rich orchestration.
