Faure Sonata No 1 in a Op 13
His first violin sonata, written in 1875-6 is an early work, but one which displays the full potential of the composer, both melodically and harmonically. Marie Tayau, a rising young star and the leader of a pioneering all-female string quartet, played the premiere in January 1877, with Fauré at the piano when Fauré was around 32 years old.
